A machiya townhouse built in the first year of the Meiji era

Located in the heart of the old part of Utazu Town, "Rinsui" has been given new life as a symbol of the Co-machi area. This townhouse, which stands on the corner, has black plaster exterior walls, and is built with an irimoya-zukuri style roof, one of the characteristics of Utazu's traditional architecture. It feels dignified more than anything. When you open the front door, you will find a spacious earthen floor, a solid wood dining table, and a built-in kitchen. And it is worth mentioning that you will be greeted by a pleasant scent unique to wooden architecture. When you go up from the earthen floor to the Japanese-style room, you can feel the charm of the time in the alcove and decorative transoms, and be healed by the garden in back. Then, when you go up the stairwell, you will find a hideaway-like loft bedroom among the prominent thick beams. Enjoy a moment of tranquility in a space surrounded by wood and sturdy pillars that have supported the house for many years.
